FESD was established with funding from a German government research and development initiative in 1998. Working together with Germany's leading Max Planck Institute, FESD engineered and developed truly unique and essential security systems based on Intelligent Object Fire Protection and Biometrics Technology. Driven by initial success in its home country, FESD quickly expanded throughout Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and Africa.

FESD Dubai, the company's regional representation for the Middle East, South Asia, and Africa, was established in November 2002. FESD Dubai has achieved many notable achievements since its recent opening including the certification of its products by the UAE government (the only non-local business to have obtained such a distinction,) product launches and initial installations in Africa and India, and a doubling of its workforce to keep up with growing demand.
