Nakheel awards US$ 4.4 billion deal to Van Oord.

Nakheel, the leading Middle East properties developer, has awarded a US$ 4.4 billion contract to Dutch Van Oord to carry out dredging and land reclamation along the Deira coast in Dubai. Under the eight year deep-sea land reclamation contract, Van Oord will use more than one billion cubic metres of sand and 70 million tonnes of rock in order to lay the foundation for the Palm Deira project. During the land reclamation and dredging operation, 70 to 80 percent of the world's dredging ships will be working on the project.
