Woodshow 2006 to feature leading regional and international exhibitors.

Woodshow 2006, the only dedicated wood and wood machinery exhibition in the region, which will be held at the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) from April 10 to 12, 2006, will have a strong regional and international presence, with exhibitors from more than 40 countries showcasing their products at the event.

A highly specialized exhibition, Woodshow 2006 provides an excellent platform for regional and international companies to showcase their latest wood machinery and woodworking products to business prospects, and build new strategic relationships with buyers, traders and investors.

“Woodshow 2006 offers exhibitors a chance to interact with international and regional experts in the wood industry and develop strategies for increasing the range and quality of their business, while learning new techniques and sources of supply. Exhibitors can sell directly to buyers on-site as well as network with industry professionals to reach buyers in new markets,” said Dawood Al Shezawi, Managing Director of Strategic Marketing & Exhibitions, the organizers of the exhibition.

Among the countries represented at the exhibition are Germany, Australia, the Netherlands, India, China, France, Lebanon, UK, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, South Africa, Spain, Singapore, Pakistan, Korea, Indonesia, Russia, Turkey, Italy, Iran, Canada, Taiwan and the United States.

Exhibitors at Woodshow 2006 can meet with professionals from across the wood industry, including engineers and planners, consultants, developers, distributors, contractors, subcontractors, interior designers and furniture manufacturers, among others. The products and innovations to be displayed at the exhibition include MDF, plywood, hardwood, softwood, veneers, timbers, parquet, laminates, finished wood merchandise and paper products. The show will also feature molding machines, woodworking machinery and tools, accessories, components and auxiliary equipment for the worldwide wood and woodworking industry.

Dubai is a major global import and re-export hub for the wood and wood machinery industry. In 2003, wood machinery imports were estimated at a whopping AED 45,355,979, and re-exports at AED 3,827,433. Wood-based and wood-related products imports stood at AED 13,991,414, while re-exports were pegged at AED 1,127,677. Whereas wooden furniture imports were estimated at AED 601,126,737 in 2003, re-exports totaled AED 291,914,632 and exports AED 22,199,854.
