gulfBID is strategically located in Bahrain, providing exhibitors with unique access not only to the rapidly growing building and interiors sectors within Bahrain but also to the Kuwait, Qatar and Saudi Arabian markets, all of which are easily accessible by road. The Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia, home to the country's massive oil wealth, is just an hour's drive from Bahrain, and gulfBID will prove a major attraction to anyone with a professional interest in the major industries in the vicinity.

The exhibition takes place at a time when the Gulf region is undergoing rapid and massive expansion. The price of oil coupled with the huge increase in liquidity in the market, as companies look for investment returns within the region, has fueled a building and construction boom which is set to continue for years to come.

The size and scope of projects currently being planned and executed in every sector, from land reclamation to the building of new towns, hotels, commercial complexes and destination theme parks is simply staggering. Conservative estimates put the value of projects currently underway in Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Oman at something in excess of $200 billion.

Just one small example is that the GCC is expected to have another 80 new hotels in the near future, totaling some 21,283 rooms. The largest single market remains the UAE, with 11,922 rooms due to become available by 2008 (with 9,628 in Dubai alone). However, the largest gains in the region are in Qatar, with a projected 145% increase; and Kuwait, with an anticipated 75% increase in room supply. Saudi Arabia and Bahrain are expected to follow.
