The amazing plans for a tower block with four rotating penthouses and a rotating villa with its own car lift have been unveiled in Dubai by property developers High Rise Real Estate LLC.

Planned for construction at Jumeirah Village South, the US$ 48 million Rotating Residential tower features 72 residential units in total. According to officials at King's Palace Real Estate, which is handling sales, a Saudi Prince has already placed a US$ 6.8 million bid for the single villa built at the peak of the tower, which will have its own car lift and three parking spaces.

Five of the tower's 15 storeys will rotate through 360 degrees at speeds which can be selected by the resident once in either three, six, 12 or 24 hours. The idea is the brain child of Faisal Ali Moosa, managing partner at High Rise Real Estate, who saw a series of single rotating villas in Germany and decided to build a city of them in Dubai. He then shifted his thinking to putting up partly rotating towers and aims to launch several more in various sites in Dubai over the next year.

The 18 month construction period on the Rotating Residence is expected to start in August when the land is handed over by master developers Limitless, a sister company of Nakheel and part of Dubai World. "This will be the star project in the area," said Ali Moosa. "It's a premier that we consider to be a significant contribution to the UAE's collection of spectacular landmarks."

Timmy Abdullah, general manager at King's Palace Real Estate, added: "This is something that is quite unique and people have really caught on to the idea. Initial sales have been very strong."

Ras Al Khaimah-based engineering company Myer Engineering Services will provide and install parts for the rotating mechanisms, after contributing to the rotating restaurant in Fortune Tower at Jumeirah Lake Towers.

The company will ship in circular platforms and motors from Germany and assemble them on site before installing them into the building - a process expected to take one to two weeks per storey, and platforms will take move approximately 300 tonnes of weight in total, each platform requiring 1 kilo watt of power to rotate.
