Aconex has been selected to provide its web-based project collaboration service to the new beachfront Marriott Renaissance Hotel development in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Aconex will allow project participants to manage all their project information online - saving time, cutting administrative costs and reducing risk.

The 323-room Renaissance Bahrain Amwaj Islands Hotel is being constructed on a series of man-made islands, approximately five kilometers from Bahrain International Airport. Facilities will include three restaurants, a lounge, poolside bar, health club, pool and private beach.

The project is expected to generate hundreds of thousands of drawings, documents and pieces of correspondence that will need to be shared between teams of architects, engineers, consultants and the project manager.

Leigh Jasper, Aconex Managing Director, said: "The Renaissance Bahrain is a large, complex development that will involve consultants based around the world, so effectively controlling the flow of information will be vital to completing the project on time and within budget.

"Through using Aconex, project team members will be able to view, distribute and track their data electronically at any time and from any location. This improves productivity through fast retrieval and distribution of data; reduces printing and postage costs; and mitigates risks such as information loss, disputes and delays. As a result, companies save time and money on their projects."

Aconex is currently servicing three of Bahrain's largest developments - the US$1.2 billion Lulu Island tourism resort, the US$300 million Sarab Al Areen commercial and hospitality complex and the Marriott Renaissance Hotel.

Jasper added: "The Renaissance deal builds upon our position in Bahrain and adds to the extensive portfolio of hospitality clients using Aconex. More than 20 hospitality projects in the Gulf region are using Aconex to manage information including Ritz-Carlton Dubai, Between the Bridges Abu Dhabi and the Emirates Hotel & Resort Dubai."

Aconex is the world's largest provider of online collaboration for construction and engineering projects. From its 30 offices, the company services projects with a combined value in excess of US$100 billion.

The Renaissance Hotel will be part of a three million square meter development consisting of residential apartments and villas, offices, a large waterfront shopping mall, an entertainment island, additional hotels, serviced apartment buildings and a 140-berth marina. The hotel will open in 2008 as part of the project's second phase. The marina, shopping mall, entertainment and commercial centers and schools are also scheduled to open by then.
