The project has a volume of several million euros and is scheduled for completion in 2010. The Cable Liner Shuttle will connect the terminal building with the gates.
Two trains, each with five cars, will operate on the two-track, 500 meter long route. 6,000 passengers can be carried per hour and direction at a speed of around 45 kilometers per hour.
The IS business unit for cable-hauled automatic people mover systems, located in Innsbruck, Austria, is supplying the drive system, the on-board and station equipment and also the automatic train control system. The business unit is also responsible for engineering and commissioning.
The Cable Liner Shuttle a fully automatic, cable-hauled rapid transit system is a joint development of DCC Doppelmayr Cable Car GmbH & Co. and Siemens. The system installed in Doha is part of the New Doha International Airport, which will be one of the biggest airports in the Near East after its completion in 2009. Cable Liner Shuttles are already in service in airports in Birmingham, Mexico City and Toronto.
