Stimulated by demand from homes, hotels, schools, universities, organizations and corporations fitness clubs, health centres, golf courses and cruise ships among others, the global market for fitness equipment is expected to surpass US$ 12 billion by 2010, according to a recent market study.
The fitness equipment industry is going through a period of explosive growth, said Eckhard Pruy, CEO of Epoc Messe Frankfurt. He noted that Wellness & Spas Middle East attracts buyers, investors, purchasers, developers, owners and industry professionals from hotels/resorts, wellness centres, clinics, health & fitness clubs, leisure centres, and hypermarkets among others.
The general affluence in the Middle East region and the increased focus on fitness and healthy lifestyles by prosperous consumers has led to a heightened demand in the region for fitness equipment, he stressed.
Mr. Pruy added that many fitness equipment manufacturers are focusing on commercial quality home fitness equipment and gyms helping incorporate exercise into daily life. The number of health and fitness clubs has increased worldwide triggering the demand for fitness equipment.
