More than 80 products from 19 countries, winners of the red dot design award, are being presented for the first time at Index which runs until Sunday 7 December 2008. Zec, who took part in a book signing session during a special evening opening of Index, expects products from the Arab world to receive red dot awards in the future.

“The Middle East is an exciting region with lots of potential and huge significance for 21st century design,” said Peter Zec. He believes presenting to an international audience gives companies taking part a unique opportunity to tap new markets. He was signing copies of the annual international yearbook for the red dot design award, a popular reference work for industry trends.

The red dot design award dates back to 1955. With around 11,000 entries from over 60 nations, the award is now the world’s largest and most distinguished design competition. It breaks down into three disciplines: product design, communication design and design concept.
