Atlas Copco is showcasing their latest range of diesel powered generator sets and lighting masts at Middle East Electricity, including the ultra tough HardHat design QAX range of portable generators.

With a canopy constructed of linear medium density polyethelene (LMDP), the QAX30 30kVA portable generator is designed to be exceptionally durable, able to withstand the harshest of conditions and treatment.

This was most aptly demonstrated during the three-day exhibition, which opened on 7 February at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre and concludes today, when visitors passing the stand were offered a sledge hammer with which to inflict as much damage upon the canopy of the generator as they could.

Living up to its reputation, and despite a constant stream of bashings from competing generator set manufacturers, the QAX30 stood strong, yet to suffer as much as a minor graze.

Michael Sagermann, Regional Business Line Manager at Atlas Copco Middle East said that the ultra durable HardHat design increases the life and resale value of the portable generator, at the same time saving users on operational costs.

“Inevitably generators are bumped and scratched to various levels that make the machine look old and unattractive,” said Sagermann, who added that the lifespan of the QAX20 lasts years longer than normal portable generators, while holding an increased amount of its original price tag for resale versus conventional steel.

“The LMDP is structurally strong, does not scratch or dent thereby keeping it looking very new and upon reaching the point of time for replacement increases its resale value on the second hand market.” In addition to the QAX30, Atlas Copco will also showcase the QLTH40 lighting tower and the QAC1000 containerised generator for the first time at Middle East Electricity.

“Middle East Electricity has always been an excellent platform to increase awareness that Atlas Copco is serious about the generator business,” added Sagermann. “We have been producing generators for 25 years, and many customers from our successful compressor business were not aware we could offer generators and lighting sets as well.

“The exhibition is a great opportunity for us to connect with our current customers and show any new developments, as well as to gain exposure to new potential customers who strengthen our business sustainability.”

Organised by Informa Exhibitions, Middle East Electricity is held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai.
Featuring more than 1,000 exhibitors, the exhibition is regarded as the world’s leading power event that focuses on power, lighting, renewable, nuclear and water sectors.

A new edition this year was the Middle East Electricity Awards, established to recognise outstanding achievements of departments, teams or organisations that have contributed to the growth and development of the energy industry in the Middle East.

At a gala dinner and ceremony on the opening evening of the event, Abu Dhabi Municipality and Ruud Lighting Arabia were the standout winners, taking home the Project of the Year Award for their joint collaboration on the Salaam Street Tunnel Project in the UAE Capital.

Middle East Electricity 2012 is the partner event to Power + Water Middle East in Abu Dhabi, Power Nigeria in Abuja and Africa Electricity in Johannesburg.
