Danube Building Materials, a leader in construction, building materials and shop fitting industries, has announced the opening of a new melamine factory in Um Salam - Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The Al Khaleejiah Building Material Factory was inaugurated by Khalid Abdulrahman Al Waris, Chairman of the Municipality of Um Salam, Jeddah in the presence of M.P. Thamimul Hussain, Group General Manager, Danube, and other key officials and representatives from Danube’s partner companies. The opening of the new melamine factory is part of Danube’s strategic move to expand their presence in the Kingdom.

The new 10,000 square feet factory is equipped with the latest assembly and production machines that have been imported from China. The new facility has a total production capacity of 5,800 sheets per day. The Danube Al Khaleejiah Building Material Factory will produce melamine sheets, raw MDF sheets and finished MEL MDF sheets. In addition, the new plant has a daily storage capacity of 80,000 melamine sheets in 18-degree temperature; 10,000 raw MDF sheets and 10,000 finished MEL MDF sheets.

“We extend our congratulations to the Danube group on the opening of their new melamine factory here in Saudi Arabia,” said Khalid Abdulrahman Al Waris, Chairman of the Municipality of Um Salam, Jeddah. “We are confident that this new facility will be able to produce world class melamine based products to meet the growing demand in today’s construction market. The new facility will also provide more job opportunities to members of the local community and play a major part in the economic development of our municipality.”

Danube currently maintains two building materials showrooms in Saudi Arabia. The company’s move towards expanding its presence complements a recent report from Deloitte Middle East entitled ‘GCC Powers of Construction,’ which reveals Saudi Arabia’s 38 per cent share of the total construction projects in the region. The report also shares that the Kingdom has over USD 624 billion worth of current and planned projects for 2011.

“The opening of our new melamine plant in Saudi Arabia comes at a very strategic time, as industry reports have shown an influx of major projects across key areas. These projects will ultimately stir in a demand for melamine based products and we are confident to meet this. Also, our new facility demonstrates our initiatives towards strengthening our presence in the country and live up to our name of providing our customers with world class and high quality building materials. Aside from the new plant, we look forward to opening more building materials retail showrooms across the Kingdom,” said Rizwan Sajan, Founder & Chairman, Danube Building Materials.
