DEWA to showcase promising initiatives and projects at World Future Energy Summit 2016

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) will participate as an Efficiency Sponsor at the upcoming 2016 World Future Energy Summit (WFES), which will be held under the patronage of HH General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the United Arab Emirates Armed Forces, in Abu Dhabi from 18-21 January 2016 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre.

Masdar will host WFES 2016 during Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW). WFES is a major annual global event where the most brilliant minds meet to exchange ideas and explore the latest updates and challenges related to the future of the energy sector. It focuses on exploring growing investment opportunities in clean energy in the Middle East and Africa, a region regarded as a promising market for renewable energy.

“In line with the directives of HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and as part of the vision of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, we continue to move our solar energy projects in Abu Dhabi and Dubai forward. We are pleased to share our experiences and skills in energy efficiency and clean energy and showcase Dubai’s renewable energy projects such as the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park in addition to our achievements, programmes, and current and future promising innovative projects as well as our latest services and smart initiatives,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority.

“We are happy to support and sponsor World Future Energy Summit 2016 in acknowledgment of the event’s importance as a platform for enhancing knowledge, research and government development and for meeting experts on renewable clean energy to exchange skills and best practices. The Summit will enable us to take a closer look at the latest techniques and practices that can help us find innovative solutions for the energy sector that can be used to build a sustainable future for everyone and unify efforts to face current challenges in the sector and find new business opportunities in renewable and clean energy,” he added.

“During the summit, DEWA will showcase their active role in adopting and applying the best sustainability practices and implementing renewable energy projects as well as related research and development activities. We will present the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 launched by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and aims to make Dubai a global hub for clean energy and green economy, and to generate 7 percent of Dubai’s energy from clean energy sources by 2020. It will increase this target to 25 percent by 2030 and 75 percent by 2050.

DEWA actively participates in energy- and water-themed national and international events to exchange skills, experiences and best practices with various concerned parties and explore the latest updates and advanced green technology solutions that can further develop DEWA’s administrative, operational and service dimensions in order to achieve its vision of becoming a sustainable innovative world-class utility.

World Future Energy Summit (WFES) 2016 will be held as part of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW) running from 16 to 23 January 2016. ADSW is an international platform that will gather more than 32,000 participants to discuss economic development challenges, water security, poverty, energy, climate change and other key issues affecting the adoption of sustainable solutions and applications for sustainable development and clean energy.
