The ‘Get Up Green Up’ competition was open to students enrolled at any university in the UAE to submit their images for review. It was intended to encourage the community to become ambassadors of ‘green lifestyles’ and highlight the positive contributions individuals can make. The winning image, captured by Nadia Saleh from the American University of Sharjah, and the runner-up photos were displayed throughout the 3rd Annual EGBC Congress.

Canon supports and implements sustainability initiatives as part of the organisation’s Kyosei philosophy to live and work together for the common good. The partnership with Emirates Green Building Council’s photography competition highlights Canon’s commitment to incorporating corporate social responsibility across all elements of the business.

A dedication to responsible business has led to Canon Middle East receiving the prestigious CSR Label in 2014 from the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry for the third consecutive year and recertification to ISO 14001 Environmental Management Standard. Additionally, Canon was recognised in 2014 for the ‘Best Environmental Practices in the Arab World’ by the Arab Organization for Social Responsibility. Currently, Canon holds the 26th position on the Interbrand Best Global Green Brands list.
