HIMOINSA's Power Cube Generator a finalist for ”Best Product Launch at ME Electricity”

HIMONISA’s Power Cube HPCW 510 generator set was shortlisted for the “Best Product Launch at Middle East Electricity 2014” exhibitor award. The winners will be announced at a dinner ceremony on 11 February. These awards are one of the activities organised around Middle East Electricity (MEE). Held in Dubai, MEE is one of the leading electricity and energy trade fairs in the region.
HIMOINSA has launched a new 500kW power generator in a 10-foot container. 500kW in 10 feet, with 50kW power/foot, a considerable power density which allows extreme optimisation of logistics and unit handling. The set is prepared to be synchronised and give extra power, always in ISO sizes of 20' for 1000kw, 30' for 1500kw, 40' for 2000kw, etc.
The objective behind designing the Power Cube Generation was to achieve a compact machine that can be easily transported; this is of great value in the rental sector, where the work tools are constantly changing according to the project needs.
If we analyse the standard measurements of all the 500kw generators in the market, we notice the following: (Length X Width X Height) 5 m X 2 m X 2.3 m = 23 m3. However, Power Cube has reduced its size by 35% in cubic metres and by 50% in body length, with regards to the standard measurements of the rest of generators with these characteristics in the market. Its dimensions are 2.991 m X 2.43 m X 2.59 m= 18.81 m3.
The smaller size has been achieved with a V engine and a remote refrigeration system has been designed on top of the engine compartment; its length can be shortened by up to 3 m.
The Power Cube Generator is robust and easy to transport, using a 10 ft container with a connection system that enables shipping of 2 units with just one standard 20 ft container.
For this, the machine has been provided with a control unit that enables up to 32 units to be connected in parallel, enabling a rental company to be able to undertake projects from 500kw to 16MW with a single machine model.
Another of the features that enhance the versatility of the Power Cube Generator is its ability to offer a dual frequency, since the machine itself can work both at 50 Hz and at 60 Hz. This dual frequency feature is ideal for its application in an IPP (Interim Power Plant), for rental, in mining, construction, quarries and ports.
One of the key features for rental companies is reducing fuel consumption to minimise operating costs. In order to do this, the Department of Engineering considers it important to guarantee greater machine performance in less favourable work environments, affording it a robustness that ensures a long service life.
One of the most important challenges is to ensure that the generator can work under conditions of extreme temperatures without a reduction in performance and without it leading to higher fuel consumption.
This has meant designing refrigeration equipment that adapts its speed to the conditions present at any time, which has resulted in a double advantage; on the one hand fuel consumption is reduced and on the other the noise level is decreased, a great advantage for closed spaces, which is one of the markets for this products due to its small size.
HIMOINSA at MIDDLE EAST ELECTRICITY 2014
HIMOINSA has been participating at Middle East Electricity for several years now. The power multinational has a stand (S2B10), which it shares with FAMCO, its official distributor in the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Saudi Arabia, and where it will showcase the HRDW-400 T5, HMW-350 T5, HYW-45 T5 and HFW-160 T5 gensets and the APOLO COMPACT lighting tower.
