Innovative solutions on display on first day of the Future Cities Show 2017

Under the patronage of His Excellency Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed Belhaif Al Nuaimi, Minister of Infrastructure Development and Chairman of the Sheikh Zayed Housing Program, HE Engineer Hassan Al Mansouri, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Infrastructure accompanied by HE Dr. Eng. Abdulla Salem Al-Katheeri, Director General of the Federal Transport Authority inaugurated the first session of the Future Cities Show. The Future Cities Show 2017 which runs from April 2nd - 4th at the Dubai World Trade Center focuses on sustainability, innovation and happiness.

“Building future cities with state-of-the-art facilities, renewable energy generation and environmental conservation solutions will make the future of societies more developed, civilised and sustainable, and thus boost the economic growth that comes on top of the happiness of members of the community,” said H.E. Engineer Hassan Al Mansouri.

HE Hassan Al Mansouri pointed out that the Future Cities Show is a global platform to meet the major companies and institutions involved in the development of advanced infrastructure from all countries of the world, as well as reinforces the importance of the UAE and the emirate of Dubai as a base for innovation, excellence and creativity.

Building on the UAE Centennial Plan 2071, which aims to make the UAE the best country in the world, as announced by HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the first day of the inaugural edition of the Future Cities Show witnessed some of the world’s most influential smart tech innovators converge at the show to present key strategies and strengthen collaborations.

‘The Sustainable City’ is participating at the Future Cities Show 2017. The Sustainable City, a Diamond Developers-backed project is a hugely ambitious mixed-use residential community showcasing the core concepts of sustainability. Spread over 46 hectares (464,515sqm), the project is in the Dubailand area, on Al Qudra Road and currently boasts of 70 per cent occupancy in the mixed-use area which comprise of the retail outlets and residential apartments.

“The Future Cities Show is a very important platform for us. It doesn’t only help us showcase our developments, but also connect us with a large group of experts in the industry,” said Faris Saeed, CEO of Diamond Developers.

The Sustainable city in Dubai is the first comprehensive sustainable project-of-its-kind in the region. Designed on the three elements of sustainability - social, environmental and economic, the developers of the project is showcasing the recent developments and an advanced model of the City at the show. The model displays 500 villas in the residential clusters, a sustainable plaza, a farm containing 11 bio domes and an equestrian center. All villas are powered with clean renewable energy from solar panels on rooftops. Furthermore, the developers are also showcasing 100 per cent water and waste recycling technologies at the city in addition to urban farming and food production, clean transportation and a variety of social and economic benefits and features that have been incorporated at the city.

On another note, Milica Janackovic, Business Development Specialist of Mobile Doctors said: “It is a great pleasure to be a part of the Future Cities Show. This is a perfect platform to display and present our next-generation offerings to the visitors.”

On display were also Sheikh Zayed Housing Programme which showcased innovative solutions for progressive city needs.

Seamless transportation, state-of-the-art healthcare facilities, round-the-clock security, sustainable housing and a host of other varied innovative solutions were on display at the inaugural edition of Future Cities Show.

The first day of the show looks positive and we are confident that in days to come it will only get better,” said Dawood Al Shezawi, Chairman of Strategic and Head of the organisation committee of the new show.
