Intercoil to open state-of-the-art manufacturing facility

In a step that reinforces its aggressive expansion plans and growing market leadership, Intercoil International, the Dubai-based sleep products manufacturer, today announced plans to open its state-of-the-art manufacturing plant in Ras Al Khaimah in Q 4, 2012, under the entity International industries LLC, a sister company of Intercoil International. The plant located at Al Ghail Industrial area in RAK, and will be spread across a massive 300,000 square feet.

The group has invested over AED 20 million in the first phase of the project; a state-of-the-art Polyurethane foam manufacturing plant; spread across 100,000 square feet. The plant, which becomes fully operational in December 2012, boasts of the latest technologies in foam production, including a fully automated computerized long blocks handling and processing system. These technologies will greatly enhance production capacity, and will enable the company to produce all quality and grades of polyurethane foam including HR, and Viscoelastic (memory).

The new manufacturing plant in RAK is part of Intercoil’s aggressive expansion strategy which will see the company starting full-fledged manufacturing facilities in India and Egypt within the next five years. Intercoil also plans to expand its presence in at least two new countries every year – it currently operates in 8 countries across two continents, and exports to more than 22 countries in the region.

In his comments on the massive expansion, Mr. Hassan Al Hazeem, MD of Intercoil International, said: “As a company, Intercoil International has grown from strength to strength – we have consistently grown our market leadership across the GCC and beyond. With increased demand for our world-class products, the need to enhance our manufacturing capabilities became paramount. The new plant in RAK is a major step in this direction.”

The new factory is considered a model factory in the MENA and Levant region, not only with respect to the new technologies employed; but also with respect to implementation of international standards; and best practices, especially in terms of material handling, storage, and optimized processes.
“Technology standards implemented in the new plant are comparable with the ones followed by multinationals companies in US and Europe. Investment has been made in new technologies that will enable the company to preserve energy, reduce waste, and maximize space utilization.

The expansion plans comes close on the heels of the company winning the Dubai Quality Achievement Award Certificate at the Dubai Business Excellence Awards in April 2012, and the CSR label 2012 from Dubai Chamber.
