KONE receives a coveted iF Design Award for its innovative turnstile solution
KONE, a global leader in the elevator and escalator industry, has won an iF Design Award for its KONE Turnstile 100 solution. The awarded turnstile sets a new standard for innovative and timeless visual design and functionality, while improving building security, guidance and convenience. This is the third time that KONE has been recognized in the renowned competition.
The iF Design Awards’ jury of experts evaluated nearly 5,000 top-class entries from 55 countries enrolled in the competition for 2015. Judging was based on criteria such as design quality, choice of materials and degree of innovation. The iF Design Awards have highlighted outstanding achievements in design since 1953.
The next generation KONE Turnstile 100 is KONE’s response to the increasing need for smarter buildings and cities in the face of rapid urbanization around the world. The visually appealing turnstile can be integrated with all KONE People Flow Intelligence solutions to enable smooth people flow from the building’s lobby area to a user’s final destination. It features a range of intelligent guidance and security options that meet the requirements of modern-day structures such as office and multipurpose buildings, which have high demands with regard to access control and maintaining an unhindered flow of people.
“We are extremely proud to have received this prestigious award for KONE Turnstile 100. We wanted to design a smart and stylish turnstile that enables people to intuitively be guided through a building’s entrance and lobby area when they enter the building,” said Samer Halabi, Managing Director of KONE Middle East.
Constructed from durable, high-quality steel and glass, the aesthetically inspiring and timeless KONE Turnstile 100 creates a lasting first impression on visitors. Its style and signalization are designed to match other award-winning KONE products, as well as the KONE People Flow Intelligence solutions family. “It is important to us that architects and builders don’t need to compromise between functionality, style and safety,” Halabi concluded.
This latest recognition from the iF Product Design Awards is one of several prestigious distinctions KONE has received for product design. The KONE RL20 elevator car ceiling light and the KSP 858 touch screen destination control unit both won iF Design Awards in 2014. KONE's products and solutions have also been awarded the prestigious GOOD DESIGN awards in 2008, 2009 and 2013, as well as four red dot product design awards in 2012.
KONE Turnstile 100 will be launched in the Middle East in May during the Smart Skyscrapers Summit where KONE will be showcasing its latest innovations including the KONE UltraRope. For more information about KONE People Flow Intelligent Solutions, please visit:
