Prometric today announced that it has been appointed by Estidama, the sustainability program managed by Abu Dhabi Urban Planning Council (UPC), the agency responsible for the future of Abu Dhabi's urban environment, to provide test development and delivery services specific to a groundbreaking new building initiative for the United Arab Emirates.

The UPC has recently overseen the development of a completely new portfolio of computer-based building sustainability exams for the Estidama Pearl Rating System (PRS). The UPC and Prometric have built exams in “Community” and “Buildings” categories to define areas of knowledge and measure engineering skills.

The Estidama PRS program and exams are tailored to address the sustainability issues specific to the environment and culture of the region. Delivering the exams using Prometric’s global secure test center network will also make them widely accessible across the region and will ensure availability to all potential test takers in most areas of the world. The tests launch on 19 October and successful test takers will be certified as Pearl Qualified Professionals (PQP).

David Grinham, vice president and general manager for Prometric, stated, “We are particularly excited to be able to contribute our expertise to this initiative. We are confident that our long track record in delivering and administering tests that accurately measure necessary skills, abilities and knowledge will help Estidama achieve its objectives for this new exam program.”
