Since its regional inception in 2011, Schneider Electric’s Energy University has witnessed unparalleled growth with registrations across the gulf increasing by 105 per cent with 2,057 new users. The educational platform Energy University offers more than 150 online courses in energy efficiency and data center management focusing on infrastructure, industry, buildings, residential, as well as data centers and networks. Recognizing the need for catering to a largely Arabic speaking population, Schneider Electric also offers the courses in Arabic, apart from 11 other international languages including English.

Schneider Electric named Dinesh Kumar Khetani, Associate Manager - Maintenance, Tiffany Foods Limited, the first Energy University Hero. Khetani successfully completed 36 courses over a span of 3 months and cleared the professional energy manager (PEM) examination on 9 January 2013, with an overall score of 83 percent to claim the prestigious title.

Turhan Turhangil, Middle East Zone President, Schneider Electric, said: “Energy University is our key tool to achieving our objective of empowering the community to better address the global challenges of energy and sustainability. We are confident that Energy University Hero will stimulate the interest of an even greater section of the community. The performance of Dinesh Khetani and others as well as the increasing number of users on the portal validates our vision. We, at Schneider Electric, congratulate Dinesh on his achievements and hope to recognize more users for their outstanding performances over the course of the year.”

Khetani said: “The assessment evaluated my knowledge in the energy domain on a broad scope, covering key energy fundamentals including efficiency, audit, issues, statistics, finance, procurement, conservation, and adopting green practices. I am thankful to Schneider Electric for providing me with a platform that enables to hone and diversify my professional skills from the comfort of my home or office and at my pace through its online Energy University. The portal has allowed me to pursue my passion for energy conservation and make a meaningful difference to the community I live in.”

Designed around self-paced learning, Schneider Electric’s Energy University courses are free and last not more than an hour per course, allowing users to take the courses anytime and anywhere. The curriculum aims to provide anyone involved in the decision-making, management, planning, design, or construction of a space impacted by energy with a level of expertise to address efficiency issues and apply safe, reliable and cost-effective measures.

Schneider Electric’s recently launched Professional Energy Manager™ (PEM) certification developed in cooperation with the acclaimed Institute of Energy Professionals (IEP), the longest running energy education program in the US, gives energy-focused individuals an exciting new option for earning a highly marketable and respected credential in energy management.

Since its introduction in 2009, Energy University has provided industry-leading, vendor-neutral energy efficiency education to more than 130,000 professionals worldwide.
