Spider Access has announced that it will be exhibiting at this year’s FM Expo, which takes place from May 19-21 at the Dubai World Trade Centre. The Gulf-based specialist building operator will be using the exhibition to reveal new products and services which have been designed to keep the exterior facades and infrastructure of the city’s plethora of high-rise buildings gleaming.

“Spider Access sees FM Expo as an ideal opportunity to showcase what we can offer to potential customers,” said Mazen Harake, Managing Director, Spider Access. “In addition to demonstrating our range of product and service offerings, we will be using the forum to connect with clients and suppliers and to identify and network with other industry players. As we are a business to business service, FM Expo is the perfect platform from which we can access the wider facility management industry and see what our competitors are up to,” he added.

Among the new facilities management devices that Spider Access will be revealing are its new Access Rail and Power Seat systems. The Access Rail has been designed for use as an adjustable anchorage point for external maintenance and has been designed to provide total flexibility and freedom of movement at height. It also allows the operator to lock themselves into one position while they are working. The PowerSeat enables workers to ascend building facades quickly, stay in position longer and perform maintenance tasks in comfort. The system is ideal for a wide range of applications and as well as enabling quick access to all aspects of building exteriors, also functions as a portable winch and hauler.

Spider Access has made its name in the facility management industry as a highly regarded UAE-based rope access company that is responsible for cleaning and maintaining the exteriors of some of Dubai’s most iconic buildings and structures, including the award-winning Index Towers and the 820-metre long pedestrian link between Dubai Metro via the Dubai Mall - one of the world’s longest walkways. The organisation has found itself in demand as its rope access methods allow it to effectively clean the exteriors of modern structures that are progressively becoming more challenging to service, because of the tendency towards unique architectural designs.

“What we aim to show at FM Expo 2014 is that our rope access method of building exterior maintenance is one of the most effective, as it offers unsurpassed flexibility and the ability to reach difficult areas,” said Harake. “The Dubai Mall to Dubai Metro walkway is a case in point. We secured the contract because we were able to show that we had the best solution to maintain all aspects of its exterior, including its underside, which other access methods, such as cradle, are unable to do as effectively. Buildings in Dubai are becoming more challenging to clean, as architects and real estate companies want to impose their unique vision on to the city’s skyline, so our rope access method is in more demand than ever,” he added.

Spider Access provides high-level access solutions across industries, including commercial, hospitality, retail and residential sectors, with services offered including building cleaning, through to the more complex and difficult-access maintenance services, such as glass replacement, aviation light replacement and building fabric maintenance. The company is a member of the Industrial Rope Access Trade Association (IRATA), the organisation that is internationally recognised as the world’s leading authority for the specialised industry.

FM Expo is the only dedicated facility management exhibition in the region. This year’s edition is its eighth and it is being held in conjunction with Middle East Waste & Recycling & Commercial Cleaning & Hygiene Middle East. The annual FM Expo is regarded as a must-attend event for facility managers, building operators, property owners and free zones operatives in the UAE.
