The main timber industry event for 2012 in the Gulf.

The Dubai WoodShow will be the main timber industry event of the Middle East of 2012. The show includes a Seminar on “Timber Legality” with eminent speakers booked from four countries and opportunities to set up company business to business meetings in advance. Exhibition space is still being taken up by companies and organisations wishing to access the Gulf markets.

The Dubai Woodshow is also the showplace for the latest innovations & technologies and has become the platform of progress across the wood & woodworking sector for the region. Exhibiting at this event will connect you with the rest of the wood industry worldwide.

Specialized trade visitors who are knowledgeable professionals and serious business buyers from all over the world will use the region's leading trade fair as an opportunity to strengthen ties with new customers, make valuable new contacts and catch up on the latest trends and technological developments.

Machinery at the WoodShow

Bosch, German manufacturer of woodworking hand tools, is giving the Dubai WoodShow around 100 pieces of woodworking tools such as tool sets, power drills and dust dry extractors as gift items for visitors. Bosch will also have their own space where they’ll showcase and demonstrate the use of their products and also allow visitors to try the products themselves, as well as giving away their own gift items.

Also from Germany HOLZ-HER, with over 45 years of experience in building edgebanders, will be offering equipment for optimum edging on all machine models for perfectly glued joints at low energy and material costs. Their machines are adapted to the continuously increasing requirements of the panel machinery market with attention paid to resource and energy efficiency.

Hot coating will be featured by German firm Kleiberit showing an abrasive resistant surface for parquet and other flooring materials applied in one step at up to 30% less cost than other multi-layered lacquer coating lines. Many of the local Gulf machinery distributors are joining this year’s show, representing such firms as Cefla, Ligno, Homag and Hakim. Dieffenbacher GmbH from Germany will exhibit as well as MNAF3 Alkhaleej, the regional distributor for SCM Group.

From Austria the Felder Group keeps coming up with innovations for the Format-4 machine range which is a complete provider of machines for all aspects of panel processing. The brand name "Format" is derived from panel formatting and "4" refers to processing on all 4 sides. Thousands of hobbyists, businesses and industry worldwide have benefitted over the last 10 years. The product range also offers a broad selection of panel saws, planers and spindle moulders, wide belt sanders, edge-banders and CNC machining centres.

The Cefla Finishing Group, for example has increased its market share in wood, in countries such as UAE, China, Germany, France, Poland, Asia, Russia and South America in 80 years of its history of which 20 has been in the Middle East. Following a massive investment in R&D, 2012 will see the launch of new technologies, new machines and processes, with new ideas to give more flexibility at less running cost.

Seminar at the Show – 4th March

The accompanying Seminar is entitled “Timber Legality” and addresses the impact of this issue on the market especially in the Middle East and GCC. The keynote speaker will be Indonesia’s Minister of Forestry. Other speakers will be from the EU Timber Trade Federation who will talk about EU FLEGT, World Research Institute USA regarding US Lacey Act, Indonesia Ministry of Forestry for its Timber Legality Assurance and Certification and a speaker from the American Hardwood Export Council (AHEC). Organisers, Strategic Marketing, are expecting up to 75 delegates for the event.

Major Exhibitors at the Show

As the foremost Gulf exhibition offering a chance to meet wood and woodworking professionals, the show has recently confirmed a host of new exhibitors including a group from Indonesia with large pavilion which will feature a wide range of forest products.

Around 350 exhibitors in total have now confirmed space including the largest group from the USA under the umbrella of the American Hardwood Export Council (AHEC) with 18 hardwood exporting companies. Exporters from French Timber and a substantial group from Canada, including Quebec Wood Export Group and Canada Wood Products, will also be exhibiting. Italy has a group of 13 companies showing this year.

The Malaysian Timber Council will be represented by its local Dubai office. From Austria the printed decor paper manufacturer Schattdecor serving the panel industry. At least 30 organisations from China are booked to exhibit. There will be many wood industries businesses from the UAE and Gulf participating. Al Nibras, importer and distributor of lumber and panel products will take centre stage of the Emirates timber trade and will welcome suppliers and buyers from all over the region.
