Engineer Åge S. Wågene started his engineering company in Norway 1976 and focused on sales and service of air compressors and pneumatic tools. The company represented FF Air AS Denmark and the ABAC Group in Italy.

In 1999 the company started developing an oil treatment system designed for hydraulic and lubricating oils, and the product was launched in 2001. In the early years the company targeted the domestic shipping industry, and then entered the international market. The global shipping industry found the Wågene solution to be a highly effective means of keeping oil clean by removing particles and water.

In 2011 the company sold off its compressed air operation to focus entirely on oil maintenance. The company the same year changed its name to Wågene Purifiners Technology AS and focused on building up a network of agents and retailers to supply the shipping
industry worldwide. In recent years maintenance of diesel has also become a part of the company's offering.

By the end of 2013 the company had delivered more than 2,500 cleaning units to industry. Two of our major customers are Carnival Cruises, the world’s largest cruise line, and Bourbon Offshore France, one of the world’s largest supply ship companies.

In 2104 the company launched their oil cleaning system for mining and construction machines. The unit works on 24V and help reducing breakdowns due to contaminated hydraulic oil. It also extends the 'life' of the oil 10-15 times.
