An innovative and pre-emptive move on behalf of Rheem has seen the launch of Australia's first dedicated instantaneous gas boosted solar water heater. Australia's leading manufacturer and supplier of water heaters, Rheem has been manufacturing solar models for more than 25 years and has used its superior knowledge and technical expertise to produce one of the most energy efficient water heaters available.

Government initiatives to lower greenhouse gas emissions (CO2) - which in turn will bring about more and more stringent requirements for energy efficient housing design - prompted the company to invest in an appliance that is designed specifically for high energy efficiency, space-saving installation and excellent security.

The gas boosted solar system comprises the Loline ground mounted water cylinder and high performance collectors on the roof. The innovative aspect of the instantaneous gas booster is that a unique bypass valve senses the water temperature and bypasses the booster when it is not required.

The obvious advantages of this system are that the household will never run out of hot water, while the life of the booster is greatly extended as it is only used when needed. The system is available in multiple sizes to suit almost any household. The gas booster runs on either natural or propane gas and features a self-diagnostic display to ensure fast, easy installation.

The instantaneous gas booster is remote mounted to make the installation more flexible and minimise the space limitations that exist in most homes. An optional recess box offers improved access, neater appearance and the utmost security for building sites - Rheem claims the booster is almost impossible to remove, even with bolt cutters.

The increased number of Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) that this gas boosted solar water heater attracts means a more efficient solar water heater can be bought for about the same price as more conventional models. RECs is a Government initiative aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions by providing an incentive to homeowners of up to $1,800 when installing an approved energy-saving appliance. The instantaneous gas booster is AGA rated at 5.1 stars and is also available with a roof-mounted water tank. The Loline solar water heater will provide almost 80% of annual hot water requirements.
