Zenitel, international market leader in integrated communication solutions for the professional market, is pleased to confirm its latest contract with the Sanef company, France, comprising a large highway network, using the latest IP technology.

Sanef is an operator of road infrastructures and is the road toll operator for North East France. Using STENTOFON equipment it is able to keep its motorways and systems satisfactorily operational and safe for customers and staff, and adapt them to cope with changes in traffic or regulations.

Zenitel has installed and maintained STENTOFON systems for Sanef for a number of years, and at the end of 2005 the new AlphaComE IP based communication solution was implemented at several toll stations. By upgrading to AlphaComE, Sanef has been able to add the latest IP and networking technologies to an already proven and highly reliable system. All the strengths are retained – high quality audio, stability and reliability, and user friendliness – while the core of the system becomes ‘native IP’.

Zenitel provides IP based solution to French Highways.

By the end of 2007, a total of forty eight stations will have this new generation of communication systems. This will prove to be the largest installation of its kind for Sanef. The forty eight toll stations are located over many different highways but all linked to a single supervision center to provide one integrated system. People using the highways can make a call any time of the day or night and talk to somebody to help them with the barrier, or any other sort of problem. The IP system integrates with the CCTV system so a solution of audio together with video solves any problems that users may have, and with simple call management and a queuing system there are no lost calls or busy tones.

The toll booth stations are vandal, tamper and weather resistant which is fitting to Sanef as not all of the booths are man-operated. All of the stations are easy to use – once a call has been placed, speech can be made hands free. STENTOFON is well known for the high audio quality of its equipment and arguably offers the best voice reproduction available on the market.

In addition to the superior audio quality, the customer is very satisfied with this new solution for a number of other reasons, chiefly the reliability of the STENTOFON platform. On the highway when speed and dependability is of the essence, there is no need to wait for a user to report a fault – the system monitors its wiring and its circuits continuously. There is no waiting for a call to dial through. The connection is instantaneous. It’s these types of adaptations which distinguish a STENTOFON intercom system. Recognised by Sanef, all toll stations are now being connected with the new IP system.
