Cadweb Limited have been appointed by P&O Estates, part of Dubai's DP World Group, to provide the Project Extranet services on the prestigious Elizabeth House project in Central London next to Waterloo Station.

A site of strategic importance immediately adjacent to Waterloo Station, Elizabeth House comprises a 1960's office complex of 44,633 m2 which is to be redeveloped. P&O has planning consent for replacement of the existing office blocks, but with the site identified in the London Plan as part of the Waterloo Opportunity Area, where 15,000 new jobs are to be created.

P&O is promoting an enhanced mixed use scheme of around 120,000 m2 to attract 'super league' occupiers to Waterloo. Redevelopment offers opportunities for greatly enhanced links between the station and the South Bank and is likely to be the first phase of major development of the Waterloo area.

Cadweb have been appointed to provide Cadweb.net, their market leading Project Collaboration Extranet, to manage the huge flows of information that a project of this scale will generate. Cadweb has also been appointed to provide all the support, training and technical advice that the successful implementation of such a system involves.

The figures are staggering: It is estimated that by the end of this project 2,500,000 files will have been exchanged and recorded on the system. To put that into perspective if all those files were to be printed and laid on the ground side by side they would cover 165 football pitches! If they were then folded up and piled one on top of the other, the pile would be just under 5 times taller than the Eiffel Tower, which is 300m high!

"We are very excited to be involved in the creation of this London landmark." Said Chris DeCarlo Operations Director of Cadweb, "In many ways this is a groundbreaking development, the use of Cadweb.net ensures that leading edge technology is employed to manage all the information generated. We can make a major contribution towards the sustainability of this project by helping to maximise the efficiency of the design and construction process."

"This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to create something which Londoners will be proud of and to open up the way for major improvements to Waterloo Station." said Bill Edgerley, Managing Director of P&O Estates.

Founded in 1995 Cadweb is the longest and oldest, established project extranet provider in the United Kingdom. Cadweb is now recognized as the de facto market leader in it's field with a long and growing list of blue-chip clients. Project Extranets provide an internet based central searchable repository for project information whereby project data can be stored and retrieved by all members of a construction project.
