Deutsche Messe Hannover, the world's foremost trade fair organiser with some 50 events worldwide including the DOMOTEX Middle East specialised flooring and carpet exhibition, has opened a regional branch office in Dubai.

The move comes as Deutsche Messe, the name behind major international shows including CEBIT, the leading international exhibition for IT and Telecoms solutions, products and services and Hannover Fair, the world's leading technology event, looks to expand its event portfolio throughout the Middle East.

'This is a genuine vote of confidence in Dubai as an exhibition hub for the region and in the potential of the entire Middle East which now includes some of the world's most progressive and buoyant economies,' said HH Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President, Department of Civil Aviation, Government of Dubai and Chairman of Emirates.

From gates opened, the inaugural DOMOTEX Middle East in 2006 was a complete success.

Deutsche Messe's investment in Dubai follows last year's highly successful regional launch of DOMOTEX Middle East, which was the fastest-selling, new-to-market B2B exhibition launched at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre (DICEC). The show has since gone annual and will be held again this coming June.

'As the region's economies, most notably those of the GCC, diversify away from oil dependency, opportunities are arising which we believe can best be seized if Deutsche Messe is physically represented here,' explained Wolfgang Lenarz, Senior Vice President, Deutsche Messe AG Hannover.

Deutsche Messe Dubai will currently be based in Bur Dubai and will be actively involved in progressing DOMOTEX Middle East as well as new event development. The office will be headed by Managing Director Angela Schaschen.

'DOMOTEX 2007 is shaping up exceptionally well and is set to be 30% larger in floor space than last year. Of exhibitors registered to date, 40% will be new to the show many looking for a market breakthrough for products and brands so far not represented in the region,' explained Schaschen.

DOMOTEX Middle East 2007, will run at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre (DICEC) from June 11-13. Abdulla Qassem, General Manager - Venue, Dubai World Trade Centre said: 'Deutsche Messe's strategic expansion through its new Dubai base underlines the dynamism and ongoing growth of the region's exhibition and event sector, and enhances the strong partnership between our two organisations.'

DOMOTEX Middle East 2007 will be held under the patronage of HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum and with the official support of the UAE Contractors Association and the Association of Professional Interior Designers (APID) in the Gulf region.
