Exhibitors at Index 2007, the definitive showcase for the interiors industry in the Middle East, are reporting the signing of major deals as a large audience of the region’s key decision makers visit the show to see the very latest products and services from the leading regional and international companies.

UAE based Icon Emirates Flooring is celebrating the confirmation of a deal worth US$653,000 for a new distributorship in Iran, which marks the company’s first foray into Iran and a highly successful end to its first year of trading. Icon is also about to confirm a second distributorship worth US$408,000 covering the Turkish market.

“We only launched the company just over a year ago,” said Icon’s Managing Director Mansukh Kanbi. “It’s incredible that in such a short space of time we have gone from nothing to everything - we’re exhibiting at Index in order to fulfil our expansion strategy through the securing of distributorships, and in addition to the Iranian and Turkish successes, we’re also in discussion with another potential distributor, this time for Egypt.”

“These were not planned meetings. These were guys who just walked onto our stand. After that, we met again and closed the deal,” he said. “So far, everything is going very much to plan.”

Icon was launched as a wholesale supplier of high quality engineered flooring sourced from Germany, Poland and the UK. In its first year, it has been involved in contracts for flooring for commercial premises and villas, including villas on The Palm Jumeirah, Dubai.
The company offers a wide range of engineered flooring ranging from 3strip wide boards to flat surface narrow boards. It offers a wide range of finishes, including Natural Oiled, UV Oiled or Matt Lacquered in brushed or smooth.

“We know that many more deals are currently in the pipeline,” said Kim Willis, Exhibition Development Director of Index organisers dmg world media Dubai. “Over the course of the next few days more mega deals will be announced as exhibitors meet the key interior designers, architects, consultants and specifiers from the region, plus professionals who have travelled from Iran, India and Europe as well as other Arab States to attend the show.”

Index 2007 runs through until Monday 5th November at Dubai International Exhibition Centre, and is open to trade professionals from 11am to 8pm.
