For many decades, Italy has been the home of contemporary design across all sectors of interiors, including office design. More than twenty of the most prominent Italian manufacturers of office furniture, interiors and technology will show their latest designs at The Office Exhibition 2008, from 4 – 6 February at the Dubai International Exhibition Centre.

Among them are renowned suppliers such as Unifor, Emmegi, Iterby, Uffix, Della Rovere, Calia Italia, Manerba, Sagsa and many more.

“When you think about design, you can’t help but think of Italy,” said Exhibition Director Paula Al Chami. “Enjoying the presence of so many of the most important Italian office-related manufacturers taking part in the exhibition, will especially please the architects, designers and specifiers, but also the design-conscious end-users. Design is not only important in terms of functionality and ergonomics, it is also a main contributor to the image of a company, helping to set it apart from its competitors. At the same time, it helps to motivate staff and increase productivity.”

Customised Design

Italian company Alea focuses on design-oriented collections which are particularly appreciated by architects and designers, because the company provides customised solutions to meet specific customers requirements. The company will display their latest executive collection ‘Eracle’, a blend of design and research into innovative materials.

This is especially apparent in the particular shape of the legs, which are made of phenolic plywood boards coated with anodised aluminium sheet, wood veneer or leather. The desk tops are available in veneer, leather or lacquered crystal. Also new in the region are the operator system ‘Pegaso’ and the executive system ‘Archimede’. “The Office Exhibition in Dubai is the perfect event to launch our products in the Gulf area,” said Area Export Manager Francesco Frara.

Sagsa is not new to design, having started manufacturing office furniture in 1922, with products based on the Bauhaus movement trend. The company now work with renowned designers, including Bartoli Design, Roberto Pamio, Mario Mazzer and many others, to develop furniture ranges such as Milanolunga, Cadrega, Open Air and Media Age, which will be on display at The Office Exhibition.

Della Rovere product lines include presidential, system as well as classic furniture ranges, a sophisticated and versatile range of office seating, upholstered seating for receptions and waiting areas with a variety of quality leathers, as well as a simple, linear range of partitions which creates great visual impact, offering an infinite number of solutions.

Arper SpA, another prominent Italian manufacturer, will show the new Aston collection, designed by Jean-Marie Massaud. It is an offshoot of the lounge chair of the same name and consists of three models: Direction, Office and Conference, distinguished especially by the height of the backrests. Also by Jean-Marie Massaud are the Fred tables, a collection which is ideal for many different situations, perfectly suited for lounge and other contract areas.

Companies from around 25 different countries are taking part in The Office Exhibition 2008, the premium event for this industry in the Gulf Region.
