Air Condition failure at the height of summer can become a nightmare for tenants and office workers, but as temperatures soar into the 40s help is on the way from a UAE-based facilities management company.

FM specialists EMCO have developed new software which is integrated into a web enabled hand held device that will reduce the response time for complaints and maintenance within managed buildings up to 40 per cent, resulting in a major improvement on the industry average.

The complaint handling system will be used to deal with every aspect of the managed building from cleaning to security, but will play a crucial role in the extreme heat when essential building systems break down and the reduced response time could be a potential lifesaver.

The software system “Star Reach,” which is being showcased at next month’s FM Expo, handles both preventive and corrective calls from clients, by sending the complaint, location of the fault, and a complete history of the client to a technician on the ground through the hand held device.

Once the technician receives the call through a general packet radio service, or GPRS web technology, they can attend to the fault and report back. All of the information, including an outline of the last three visits to the client is automatically sent to a hard grain, or complete, database at the EMCO Head Office, where a service report is generated for the customer.

“Our main aim is to better the service level agreements of our clients, and our long standing client retention is proof of our success in this endeavor,” said Arshad Ahmed, Head of Facilities and Asset Management at EMCO.

“Much of the response time is lost during the transfer of information, but by sending data instantaneously through the web, our complaint handling system will be a blessing to the burgeoning FM market. A reduction in the response time is crucial. FM Expo provides a great opportunity to introduce our GPRS enabled complaint handling system to the market and directly to potential customers,” Arshad Ahmed continued.

Organised by Streamline Marketing Group, FM Expo will feature a dedicated Supplier’s Zone, displaying the latest technology and products available in the FM industry from security to landscaping and cleaning.
