MEED, the Middle East's premier business intelligence provider, announced the Arabian World Construction Summit (AWCS) 2010 will focus on how the industry is gearing up to seize the opportunities presented by the 2010 GCC growth forecasts, while dealing with the legacy of the global property crash that led to project delays and cancellations.

To be held from 24 to 26 May 2010 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) and themed 'Growing in a Challenging Market', the Arabian World Construction Summit (AWCS), will witness over 50 experts from across the region addressing the key issues currently impacting the industry.

Recognised as the premier annual Middle East event for the projects industry, AWCS 2010 is expected to attract over 450 delegates and is one of the central features of the newly launched 'Arabian Construction Week' being hosted by ADNEC at the end of May.

The summit will feature prominent professionals from the region's leading construction companies including Her Excellency Fatima Al Jaber, COO, Al Jaber Group; Riad Kamal, Chairman, Arabtec; Mustafa Sani Sener, President & CEO, TAV Group, and Pierre Berger, Chairman, Vinci Construction Grands Projects. The panel will discuss the strategic significance of identifying key growth markets and sectors to seek new projects.

Edmund O'Sullivan, MEED Events Chairman, said: "With the effects of the recession beginning to wear out, the key to a quick recovery for players within the construction and real estate sector is to remain alert and innovative. ACWS 2010 will bring representatives and analysts who successfully kept their businesses afloat and continued to thrive despite the tough economic conditions. Given the fact that the economic climate continues to be very challenging, there are invaluable lessons to be learnt from what worked out for these companies."

AWCS will focus on key growth areas in the GCC including Abu Dhabi and the UAE, Kuwait, Qatar and Saudi Arabia. It will also highlight opportunities in other markets and examine developments in the GCC projects industry from concept to completion. Critical operational issues besetting the sector, payment delays, project cancellations and alternative ways of financing the GCC's trillion dollar project pipeline will also come up for discussion during the summit.

The AWCS Breakfast session on the second day will feature a presentation on specific opportunities in Saudi Arabia. In addition, bespoke networking opportunities during the summit are designed to provide delegates with the right platform to create meaningful business relationships and meet senior industry leaders from across the construction value chain.

The Arabian World Construction Summit has firmly established itself as an effective networking platform for individuals within the industry. The 2009 edition themed 'Business Sustainability in a Challenging Market' attracted 390 international delegates.
