WSP Environment and Energy, a global consultancy group with 40 specialists working across the Middle East region, and Bayer MaterialScience AG plan to cooperate on sustainable construction. Both companies have signed an agreement to collaborate in building energy-efficient buildings.

“Using our management-based approach to the planning, design and implementation phases of a project’s life cycle, we deliver appropriate, affordable and workable solutions across a broad spectrum of industry sectors”, says Kent Pedersen, Managing Director WSP Middle East. “Therefore we are a perfect match to the EcoCommercial Building Pro-gram’s holistic approach to increase the sustainability and value of green buildings.” WSP Environment and Energy provides advice on all aspects of environmental, energy, sustainability, climate change, and business risk issues.

The key focus of the cooperation will be on optimizing the energy demand of buildings through building envelope insulation concepts, energy-efficient building technologies, renewable energy applications, and interior solutions to increase user comfort and health at the same time as energy efficiency.

“Commercial buildings require effective solutions for energy efficiency and climate protection”, says Pejman Norastehfar, Head of The EcoCommercial Building Program in the Middle East. “We need to pool our technical expertise. That is the reason why we have founded the EcoCommercial Building Program, in which we have established a global network of experts for sustainable buildings.”

The Program offers building decision-makers access to leading experts and state-of-the-art solutions – custom-tailored to the region and across the entire range of applications from analysis and planning to energy efficient building material and technology suppliers. Cost-effective implementation of green buildings is a key challenge faced by regional governments and the private sector. Together with regional network members, Bayer MaterialScience is in a position to contribute to the continued success and role-model character of the region in pioneering sustainable construction and urban planning.

About the EcoCommercial Building Program
The EcoCommercial Building Program by Bayer MaterialScience enables building deci-sion makers (such as architects, project developers and construction companies, property developers and real estate portfolio managers of large companies and organisations, such as supermarket or fast food chains, hospitals etc.) to implement sustainable building projects. The concept of the Program – a novelty in the construction industry to date – is to provide integrated material, strategy and implementation solutions through a global interdisciplinary network of competent members with local expertise.
