Desso, the global carpets, carpet tiles and sport pitches company with its Middle East & Africa regional headquarters in Dubai, will launch the extension of its patented DESSO AirMaster carpet collection in the Middle East offering a ‘best of both worlds’ solution for customers.

The company is targeting architects and interior designers across the region as well as homeowners, with a visually exciting three-in-one collection including the DESSO AirMaster Elements and DESSO AirMaster Blend aimed at the commercial market, and DESSO AirMaster for Home for residential use.

“Our Middle East customers rely on us to deliver a highly durable quality-led product every time – whether they are fitting out Grade A office space or looking for a premium home solution. The new DESSO AirMaster ranges have been created to not only optimise tailored functionality but also offer more design possibilities for any environment,” said Andre Dulka, Regional Director, Middle East, Africa & India, Desso.

According to tests conducted by independent German testing unit, GUI, AirMaster has been proven to reduce the concentration of fine dust indoors eight times more effectively than hard flooring, and four times better than standard carpet.

DESSO AirMaster Elements consists of four different products - Atmos, Cosmo, Oxy and Sphere - all of which are available in six neutral colours ranging from warm beige to deep slate to create a smooth, flawless appearance with non-directional organic patterns.

The second new range, DESSO AirMaster Blend, offers playful linearity that perfectly complements the universal designs of the original AirMaster collection. Combining lighter shades against a darker backdrop, and is available in six carefully blended combinations including blues, browns and greys, to provide a warm yet professional look.

“Functionality is of primary importance but Desso is equally committed to developing products and lines that have strong aesthetic appeal, and the new innovative DESSO AirMaster product ranges play with texture and weave to create a natural feel and design to fit today’s contemporary commercial interiors and homes,” noted Dulka.

AirMaster Atmos is a structured and tactile loop pile carpet tile, while the textured loop pile, AirMaster Oxy, offers a subtly organic and irregular pattern similar to that of dried clay. AirMaster Sphere has a handmade feel inspired by rustic natural materials and elements adding warmth and texture, whereas AirMaster Cosmo has an understated linear design with a natural feel.

DESSO AirMaster for Home is specially designed for residential use through a robust loop pile carpet with a pure and natural appearance with on-trend appeal. The color palette includes colours such as sand, pebble, wood and olive fitting with the overarching theme of simplicity, functionality and nature.

The collection also has productivity benefits when applied in commercial situations. A study authored by William Fisk of California’s Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, revealed that improved indoor air quality can also boost productivity with a half-percent increase to 5% resulting in estimated savings of US$20-200 billion per year in the US.

“The effect of indoor pollution is highlighted in a recent report from the World Health Organisation (WHO), which states that a total of 3.3 million people died globally in 2012 from indoor air pollution. “We spend 90% of our time indoors so our choice of floor covering has direct implications on our personal health and wellbeing. To raise awareness of the dangers of bad indoor air quality and demonstrate practical solutions, Desso has launched its ‘Great Indoors’ campaign,” added Dulka.
