The pulsating rhythm of the city spreads from the street to the room. From the feet to the eyes. From the carpet to the people. The new carpets from ege create attention and attitude.

On the move creates a stir with rhythmic and almost hypnotic patterns, inspired by the constant movements of the city. The mode of expression is conspicuous with a young and colourful design. The collection is developed by the designers Louise Helberg and Pia Nørgaard Pedersen, who have had the entertainment business in mind during the design process.

Significant choices

The contrasting flow in the city has been a great inspiration in the design process. “There is always something going on in the townscape”, Louise Helberg tells. “People in motion everywhere; walking, running, in the subway, on bikes, on skateboards, on highways. Light and darkness replace each other, and glimpse of something interesting stands out from the crowd. The new collection is a reflection of this”. On the move, consisting of five designs in strong colours with black and gray in contrast, is both fierce and simple. “It has been a balance to form a whole with the strong contrasts and colours, but we have succeeded by limiting the colours to two or three and chosing simple lines in the patterns”, Louise Helberg explains.

Pia Nørgaard Pedersen agrees and elaborates, “The collection is created to generate a stir. We have taken some significant choices about the patterns and colours, resulting in carpets that capture the room to a higher degree than usual”. The huge patterns call for space and movement. That is why the collection is suited for large rooms with lots of activities going on. “The design and the vibrant colours are well suited for bar-, club- and lounge environments, but the collection is also an interesting solution in large open spaces with a constant flow, like for example in airports and railway stations”, Pia Nørgaard Pedersen smiles.

The two designers agree that On the move is a significant collection, showing that ege dares to go the whole hog. Something that is characteristic for the Design Spot concept, of which On the move is the second collection.

Design Spot is spot on

With the unique Design Spot concept ege presents its current design idea of what is popular these days. Based on fashion, trends, art or culture the Design Spot collections stand out with special, twisted and subtle designs, making the unthinkable possible and the narrow allowed.

On the move is no exception. With the names Pulse, Vibrate, Beat, Shake and Spin the five designs direct the thoughts to places, where music and the city pulse spread in the body, putting it into motion to the rhythm of a city that never sleeps.
