RAK Ceramics, the world's largest ceramic tiles and bathware manufacturing company, has announced that it recently opened its refurbished central storeroom in Ras Al Khaimah which was gutted in a major fire in 2009. The renovated store, which was opened by Abdallah Massaad, Deputy CEO of RAK Ceramics, will serve as a hub for all consumables that the company requires for the smooth running of its tile production operations in the emirate.

The store now features a state-of-the-art fire protection system that has been installed under the guidance of Robb Jones, Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental (HSSE) Consultant at HIS Consultancy. In addition, a raking system, which allows efficient store management and tracking, has also been installed in-store for enhanced protection.

“It is a testament to the determination, resilience and hard work of the team at RAK Ceramics that this store has been already renovated and fully operational. The incident in 2009 was unfortunate, especially given our excellent safety and security track record. Nevertheless, the refurbished store has a highly advanced fire protection system, which the employees have been familiarized with. From an operational perspective, this store plays a crucial role in ensuring that the company’s production workflow is maintained at the optimum level, which also contributes towards our status as the world’s largest ceramic tile manufacturer,” said Abdallah Massaad.

RAK Ceramics is a USD 1 billion global conglomerate in the ceramic industry, offering a product portfolio comprising over 8,000 designs in ceramic tiles, Gres Porcellanato, and several models in bathware. RAK Ceramics was recently honored by the Emirates Securities and Commodities Authority (SCA) for complying with good governance and transparency according to best international practices.

The company has also been conferred the SuperBrand 2010 Award and continues to be a global pioneer in the world of ceramics through innovative products such as the RAK SLIM, a new brand of 4.5-millimetre thick tile that sets new industry benchmarks in thickness, strength, cost and ease of use. RAK Ceramics is also founding member of Emirates Green Building Council, which supports the development of sustainable buildings in UAE.
