SteelFab has secured the support of a number of international industrial bodies for its upcoming edition next year, thus facilitating the participation of leading international firms known for their technical excellence and know-how in the show.

SteelFab, the Middle East’s leading trade show for the metal-working, metal-manufacturing and steel fabrication industry, will be staged at Expo Centre Sharjah from January 17 to 20, 2011.

The show will have the support of UCIMU – Sistemi per Produrre, Promos Milano, TAMI and the German Engineering Federation.

UCIMU – Sistemi per Produrre is the association of Italian manufacturers of machine tools, robots, automation systems and ancillary products, while TAMI is the Taiwan Association of Machinery Industry.

Promos Milano is the agency of the Milan Chamber of Commerce for the development of international activities of Lombardy SMEs, and the German Engineering Federation (VDMA), along with AUMA – the Federation of German Trade Fair Industry -- and the Federal Ministry of Economics & Technology will organise for the first time a German pavilion at SteelFab 2011.

German engineering technology is strong in the fields of surface treatment, metal-working machines, machine tools, material handling systems and all related technologies, which will be a significant attraction for the Middle East metal working sector.

The VDMA represents 3,000 mainly small/medium-size member companies in the engineering industry, making it one of the largest and most important industrial associations in Europe.

While the Taiwan Association of Machinery Industry will be associating with SteelFab for the first time and is working to put together a pavilion at the show, UCIMU – Sistemi per Produrre has supported SteelFab for the past five editions, and encourage Italian manufacturers to participate in the show.

Promos Milano will be playing a key role in facilitating the Italian participation since most part of the Italian manufacturers in the field of metal working and machine tools is located in Lombardy (46.3 per cent of the total) and represents 38.3 per cent of the national turnover. During last year, the export in this sector increased of 12.1 per cent and one of the focus areas for the Italian companies is the Middle East and the Gulf countries, with the UAE registering a rise of 25.1 per cent and Saudi Arabia 16.7 per cent.

In this framework, Promos, in co-operation with UCIMU, is organising a collective participation of 18 Lombardy companies for the next edition of SteelFab to promote and to increase the presence of Italian companies in the Emirates.

SPECIAL FEATURES
The upcoming show will be SteelFab’s seventh edition and will feature the Middle East’s largest display of machinery, machine tools, welding equipment, supplies, consumables and ancillary equipment used in the pre- and post-treatment of steel.

It will have a special focus on welding consumables. SteelFab has always had a broad representation from the welding and cutting sector. With the aim to promote quality welding process in the Middle East, SteelFab will focus on the role of quality and specialty welding consumables.

The show will continue to highlight pipe and tube machinery. Pipeline projects have been strong in the last year in the Middle East, with SIMDEX, the pipeline database, finding that 115 projects are under way for lines that run an average length of 435km, with an added 14 jobs in the pre-construction phase, according to its March 2010 report.

This is likely to boost demand for machinery and tools for pipe & tube construction, pipe forming, pipe cutting, roll bending, tube forming, tube bending, orbital welding, pipe & tube straightening, clamps and accessories and other pipe & tube solutions.

Product presentation seminars will be organised alongside the show and are targeted at professionals in the field and industry representatives.
SteelFab 2011 will be organised by Expo Centre Sharjah with the support from the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
