Schneider Electric to Showcase KNX Access Control at Hotel Show

Schneider Electric, the global specialist in energy management, it will showcase its latest building management application solution for hotels, KNX Access Control at the Hotel Show that is set to be held from 28 – 30 September at the Dubai World Trade Centre.
The KNX Access Control system serves as a single software package for the holistic tasks of the facility and offers a one-card key to guests for all areas. The system combines simplicity and flexibility to provide maximum energy efficiency. The KNX Access control system is also compatible with leading enterprise resources planning (ERP) and Property Management system (PMS) solutions, which further helps in the delivery of seamless comfort to hotels guests and enhanced energy efficiency. Designed to ensure integrated convenience in hotels, the system pays particular attention to the reception areas and rooms.
The pre-installed software on the KNX Access server allows easy creation and addition of room allocations and bookings for hotel services. With the KNX Access Control system, coding the key card is extremely fast. The software-based system allows all content to be carried out in real time and individual access authorizations are active immediately. Different profiles and access privileges can be defined for guests, cleaning or maintenance personnel.
The KNX Access card reader makes access easy for guests and ensures energy efficiency through connecting the power only when it is actually needed. When they arrive at their hotel room, guests open the door effortlessly with the radio frequency identification (RFID) card. When they insert the card into the backlit card slot, the air conditioning and lights are also switched on.
Guests can use push-buttons or touch panels to adjust the lighting and temperature to their requirements. LEDs on the card reader on the outside of the door indicate to hotel personnel if guests do not want to be disturbed or if the room can be made up. When the guests remove the card from the slot when leaving the room, the room is reset to energy saving mode: the lights go off automatically, the temperature is lowered and all power circuits that are not required are disconnected.
The system provides maximum energy efficiency in hotel rooms driven by advanced room occupancy detection based on user profiles. This results in a significant reduction in cost for the hotel even while enhancing comfort for the guests. This also makes service personnel's work extremely efficient. Furthermore, the environmentally friendly system does not need batteries as it is wired. Maintenance and monitoring can be carried out using the same software as that for the bookings, which saves time and money.
