Apparently live glass blowing by real experts has rarely if ever been seen in Dubai and the Gulf before. It can be a mesmerising and exciting experience.

“That’s why we are so excited to be bringing 3 of our finest glass artists and creators, to do demonstrations and master classes at ‘the interior design event of the year 2009’ in Dubai from 6th to 11th November”, commented Steve Parker, founder and director of The Stourbridge Glass International Collection, who were invited to become glass industry partners of APID last year.

“Instead of just giving lectures, we decided that the best way of convincing and educating interior designers and their clients ,that glass can create the ‘wow factor’ in buildings, is to actually demonstrate pieces being made, close up in real time, with some audience participation!. So we have made a new portable furnace, that is being sent from Stourbridge, England specifically for the event” Steve added.

Sessions planned include showing how ‘gold, silver and ornate decoration’, ‘colour, movement and flow’ and ‘themes, shapes and colour’ can be incorporated into glass designs and commissions.

“Of course everyone will also have the opportunity to view and hold some fabulous new pieces, that we have created especially for the event too” he added.
