Abu Dhabi University (ADU), an internationally recognized academic institution for quality education and applied research, concluded its third outing at INDEX, the UAE’s premier interior design exhibition. ADU students showcased their innovative interior design work in three-dimensional scale models, and creative furniture designs. Students from the Department of Architecture and Design at ADU’s College of Engineering competed in the INDEX Student Challenge that tested the contestants’ ability to design items using waste materials.

Dr Sadeka Abdel Shakour, Assistant Professor of Furniture and Interior Design at ADU’s College of Engineering, said: “Our participation in INDEX 2018 is in line with our efforts to promote the work of our students at various exhibitions and events in the UAE and abroad. In addition, it aligns with our objective to provide a holistic learning environment that develops the students’ scientific, intellectual, and artistic capabilities.”

She added: “At ADU, it is our ongoing endeavor to expand the knowledge base of our students through participating in important industry events or hosting seminars and forums in conjunction with leading researchers, practitioners, and decision makers, who share their experiences, best practices, and case studies. Such thought sessions provide our students with invaluable practical exposure in their chosen fields of study.”

As part of its mission to provide academic and training programs that address the requirements of the labor market, ADU offers a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design program across its three campuses in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain. All ADU degree programs have received accreditation from the Commission for Academic Accreditation of the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), and other relevant international bodies.
