About VA 120 - Pressure Independent VAV Boxes (Extended length version)
VA 120 - Pressure Independent VAV Boxes (Extended length version)
Single duct, Pressure independent type Variable Air Volume terminals, are installed in a centralized air-conditioning system for accurate airflow control to provide smooth air distribution in each specified zone according to its demand. PI VAV terminals provide energy saving by changing the airflows in the zone as per demand of the zone and AHU is reducing/increasing the speed via. VFDs to satisfy the demands of all zones.
Aldes PI VAV terminals have been tested & certified as per AHRI-880 Standard for both radiated and discharge sound power levels and minimum operating pressure at rated airflows @ 375Pa and carry AHRI seal for giving peace of mind to all stake holders.
PI VAV terminals are supplied complete with damper assembly, crossflow sensor, externally mounted controller with actuator, round inlet spigot and rectangular discharge for drive & slip type connection to ductwork or secondary attenuator. Airflow through the PI VAV terminal is monitored by measuring the differential pressure across the crossflow sensor. Crossflow sensor is made of non-corrosive material and have an aerodynamic profile offering low resistance to the airflow. Crossflow sensor is installed at the inlet spigot of the VAV terminal and have 12 holes of 1.5mm for more accurate measurement over the complete cross-section (complying with ISO 10780). Crosflow sensor is connected via. color plastic tubes to transfer the positive and negative pressure values to the sensor of controller. Casing of PI VAV terminal is manufactured from 22 ga. galvanized steel. The PI VAV terminal casing incorporates ½ inch thick fiberglass insulation of 32 m3/kg with KCL facing to prevent the migration of particles from the surface of acoustic insulation. The edges of insulation material are also protected by insulation holders manufactured from 22 ga. galvanized steel. Acoustic insulation material meets the requirements of UL 181 & NFPA 90A. The blade assembly of PI VAV terminal is double skin type and manufactured from 24ga galvanized sheet steel with 2mm thick, circular polyelfin gasket that is mechanically locked between two metal layers on the circumference of the blade to assure low leakage. Damper shaft is 10 x 10mm galvanized steel and is installed on one side of the blade via rivets. Damper shaft is mounted on square male/female brass bushes for smooth operation.
PI VAV terminals are supplied with factory installed controllers with actuators. Controllers are factory-calibrated to regulate the airflow between minimum to maximum airflow requirements of the space. Aldes offers controllers and thermostats for all different applications i.e. for stand-alone application, for BMS applications (BACnet and LONworks), with heater and without heater.
