Making its debut at the event, which runs from 27-30 October as a key element of Dubai Design Week, Capsule Arts will present an impressive collection of design objects and accessories from designers specialising in hand-made work on its stand B07.

They include award-winning woodturner Benoit Averly from Burgundy, France, family-based high-quality interior design objects and lighting specialists GUAXS from Germany, Italian Rina Menardi who specialises in hand-made stoneware pieces, and modern Czech glass designers SkLO.

Their work will be complemented by a series of installations of hand-painted ceramic plates by French specialists Faiencerie Georges including their new Kuwait Tower piece, commissioned especially by Capsule Arts for the fair, which is held under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice Chairman, Dubai Culture & Arts Authority.

“We’re thrilled to be participating in Downtown Design for the first time,” said Rachael Brown, co-founder of Capsule Arts. “Given the focus of the fair on design, we see this as a fantastic platform to show the work we do sourcing design objects for projects.”

“Increasingly we’re being approached to provide interior styling for projects, which is a very natural development of the services we offer, allowing us to ensure that all the artworks and accessories work seamlessly together to achieve a cohesive interior design.”

Earlier this year, Capsule Arts worked with Taj Dubai to source accessories for the entire hotel, embarking on a buying trip to India to source authentic Indian accessories which were placed throughout the property for its opening in March.

The company’s expertise as art consultants and interior stylists has also been highlighted by its work for properties such as the Manzil Downtown Dubai, the Kempinski Hotel Mall of the Emirates and the Bay La Sun Hotel in Saudi Arabia. For Bay La Sun, the first hotel to open in the new King Abdullah Economic City development, Capsule Arts commissioned work across the hotel, including a series of monumental paintings by leading Saudi artists Zaman Jassim and Abdullah Hammas.

The company also developed the artwork package for the food and beverage outlets at the New York University Abu Dhabi, commissioning a number of interactive pieces designed to engage students.

“For Downtown Design we’re particularly excited to be showcasing the work we commissioned from Faiencerie Georges,” said co-founder Deepa Bhatia.

“They are into their fourth generation of artisans and are reinvigorating ceramics with their eclectic and non-traditional hand-painted designs, featuring subjects from cranes and industrial architecture, through to whimsical beach scenes.

“Often this imagery spans across a mass of plates in their large-scale ceramic installations, and we’re particularly looking forward to presenting their work to trade professionals in Dubai.”
