Bayer Pearl introduces new polyurethane spray foam system in Middle East

Bayer Pearl recently developed a new spray foam system based on Solstice LBA liquid blowing systems from Honeywell. The Solstice LBA-containing polyurethane-spray foam system of the Baymer family offers home-owners excellent thermal insulation performance for reduced energy consumption. The improvement of the environmental footprint and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions enables residential buildings to meet the ever increasing demand of UAE’s sustainability regulations and Green Building Standards.

After fulfilling the equipment conditions for handling 3rd and 4th generation of blowing agents in larger scale, Bayer Pearl conducted a series of customer trials. In intensive co-operation, UAE-based spray foam applicator Water-Seal received authority approval for such a Baymer product containing Solstice LBA. In the meantime, for the first time ever in the Middle East, first projects for roof-insulation of residential villas in Al Ain have been realized by Water-Seal, using this modern and eco-friendly Baymer product. The new polyurethane system has also been presented at a recent symposium on spray foam in Dubai, which was held by Bayer Pearl and was well attended.

The said Baymer polyurethane spray foam insulation system meets the needs of spray-foam applicators for non−flammable products with zero ozone depletion potential (ODP) and low global warming potential (GWP) solutions, while achieving excellent insulation values.

"This first real application of a polyurethane spray foam system with a 4th generation blowing agent in a construction project in UAE underlines Bayer Pearl´s commitment to sustainability, and will not remain the only project of this kind in the short term”, states José-Antonio Diaz-Lopez, Head of Application Development at Bayer Pearl in Dubai. “We continue to make use of Bayer’s global network of R&D-centers and systems houses, in order to bring the most modern technologies also to UAE”, he commented at a re-cent symposium Bayer Pearl was giving on sustainable blowing agent solutions for polyurethane foam.

Blowing systems of the 3rd (hydrofluorocarbons) and 4th generation (hydrofluoroolefins) are the materials of choice for highly energy-efficient polyurethane spray foams, but have a much lower environmental impact than their predecessors.
