BillerudKorsnäs today launches D-Sack®. A revolutionary packaging solution which will set a new industry standard for cement packaging in the global cement and construction industry.

Disintegrating and climate positive – the award-winning D-Sack has several significant advantages over conventional cement sacks. The sack disappears during the mixing process, which minimizes cement waste, eliminates packaging waste and saves time, whilst ensuring a cleaner, safer and healthier workplace. D-Sack also has a lower overall cost for the contractor compared to conventional cement sacks

Superior climate performance

In addition to the above benefits, D-sack is superior to conventional cement sacks when it comes to climate performance. In a life cycle assessment conducted by IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institute, D-sack proves to capture CO2 over a one hundred-year perspective, meaning that it is climate positive. The reason is that the carbon dioxide that was bound during tree growth and then incorporated into the paper, is bound in the concrete structure.

”D-Sack is a revolutionary packaging solution that combines increased operational efficiency and reduced product loss with a cleaner environment. Thanks to its unique abilities the D-Sack will set a new industry standard and revolutionize the way in which the cement and construction industries are working. We very much look forward to marketing, selling and distributing D-Sack under the BillerudKorsnäs brand directly to brand owners and wholesalers," says Mikael Strömbäck, Business Segment Director Sack Solutions at BillerudKorsnäs.
  • D-Sack was co-developed in a close cooperation between BillerudKorsnäs and LafargeHolcim.
  • D-Sack was awarded the 2015 Pulp & Paper International Prize for Innovation in Sustainable Packaging and selected by Confederation of European Paper Industries (CEPI) as one of the pulp and paper industries most innovative products in 2015.
