The Cape Reed Group of Companies started more than 21 years ago when the first business entity, Innovative Thatcher’s was founded in the early nineties. It has since become a world leader in the design, construction and installation of exclusive tailor made timber and thatch structures, with regional offices in Dubai, U.A.E. (Middle East), Cape Town, South Africa (Africa) and Marbella, Spain (Europe) , while the following venues host satellite offices : Valletta (Malta), Amman (Jordan), Doha (Qatar) and Aix-en-Provence (France).

The company’s primary roofing material, which also gives the company its name, is cape reed (thamnochortus insignis), a unique thatching material that only grows on a small strip of land, approximately 78x23km, in the Southern Cape region of South Africa. Because of its scarcity very strict farming practices are being adhered to in order to ensure its sustainability.
