Computing giants Hewlett Packard have teamed up with the UAE’s leading surface design exhibition to offer budding photographers the chance to have their work blown-up to wall-covering size.

Lens-lovers of all ages and skills – from professional snappers to weekend smartphone whizzes – are being encouraged to enter their most memorable, spine-tingling shots to Middle East Covering’s ‘Sense-Able’ competition.

The contest is on the hunt for pictures that truly stimulate the senses of all those who see it; images that make the viewer really feel the shot.

Those could be photos that capture finger-itching textures, body-shaking impacts, heart-stopping moments, roaring noise, perfect silence, hots, colds, mouth-watering tastes, nose-tickling smells, or instances that simply make you stop in your tracks and say ‘Wow’.

The theme has been chosen in line with Middle East Covering’s co-located exhibition, the INDEX Design Series, which is this year focusing on Design for the Senses. Both take place at the Dubai World Trade Centre May 22-25.

Middle East Covering show director Yan Wang said: “HP will be joining us for the third Middle East Covering and will be on site with the HP Latex – a printer capable of printing huge images across a whole range of different surface materials. That’s what our show is all about: bringing the latest surface and covering technologies to the forefront of the Middle East’s ever-expanding interiors market.

“To celebrate this, we want to provide the opportunity to people with genuinely spell-binding photos to have their shots blown-up in perfect HD to use as either a wall-covering, canvas or even wallpaper. It’s the perfect chance to reward genuinely awe-striking photography.”

Ernest Azzam, Regional Business Manager, Large Format Printing MENA, HP said: “Today, decorative design can touch virtually everything, and everyone. When you can digitise, mass customise, even individualise, you have powerful tools to differentiate your business. HP’s portfolio of technologies and solutions are designed to help you take full advantage of the interior decoration opportunity that extends from the traditional to the trendy.

“The versatility and flexibility of HP Latex solutions address traditional markets like wallcoverings as well as trendy new applications like window blinds, decorative textiles, or lampshades. When image quality is art, HP DesignJet solutions provide unrivaled image quality from fine art reproduction to professional photography.”

Entrants are asked to submit their images via Twitter or Instagram, using #MECSenseAble. The winner will be selected on Sunday, May 21, and given the choice of having their image come to life as a print, canvas or wallpaper* at the HP stand at Middle East Covering.

As the region’s only dedicated surfaces event, Middle East Covering will unite hundreds of international companies specialising in contract business interiors, exterior flooring and wall coverings, providing visitors unprecedented access to more than 2,000 products and a host of unique covering-led features found nowhere else in the Middle East & North Africa. The four-day show is aimed at facilitating business between international brands and enables them to unlock the contract procurement potential of the GCC.

Hewlett Packard are just one of the many big-name brands exhibiting. They will be joined on the show floor by the likes of Artista One, BASF, Berry Alloc B. V, Brighto Paints, Colortek, Floor World, PARADOR, Progress Profiles and Val Paintare.
