International Concrete Technology Forum, Dubai

On the 27th and 28th of November, 2019, the annual International Concrete Technology Forum Middle East was held in Roda Al Bustan, Dubai – UAE. It was the 11th year hosted by Grey Matters together with NRMCA, Dubai Municipality, Dubai Central Laboratory and the sponsors, which focused on the latest advances, technical knowledge, continuing research, tools and solutions for concrete manufacturing, design and construction. The Conference was exclusive to invitees and with great participation of over 300 attendees. During the two-day conference, attendees were very participative and interacted with the speakers by raising questions, sharing opinions and thoughts.

The International Concrete Technology Forum was endorsed by the “Concrete Sustainability Council”. This year, for the first time we are happy to have 3 new industries joining us. We have ice products, cement and motors. The platinum sponsors were “Emirates Beton”, “Sika”, “National Cement Factory” and “KTI-Plersch Kältetechnik”; the gold sponsors were “Mapei”, “Simatec”, “Hydronix”, “Al Falah Ready Mix”, “DMix” and “Al Tayer Motors and Ford Trucks”; the silver sponsors were “Cortec”, “Transgulf Readymix”, and “Gatex”; and the bronze sponsors were “RMB Readymix Concrete” and “Emix”.

The event consisted of 5 thematic sessions with speakers from local, regional and international. The first session titled “New Trends in Concrete”, presented the Future of Concrete, Concrete Technology Innovations and Energy Efficient Concrete Cooling Systems. The second session was “Concrete Sustainability in Practice” and third was “Strategies & Challenges: Personnel & Technology”. At the end of the first day, a graduation ceremony took place for the 6th batch of the NRMCA Certified Concrete Professional Middle East (CCPfME).

On the second day, the National Cement Factory received a Bronze award by the Concrete Sustainability Council. Also, the Dubai Central Laboratory presented six awardees (3 levels of each) based on the classification of Ready Mixed Concrete and Precast factories, for the 4th time, evaluating the performance in achieving the Dubai Central Laboratory Certification under the Dubai Municipality Standard Specification, DMS 026.

The International Concrete Technology Forum is designed to provide networking and learning opportunities, where attendees received 10 professional development hours (PDH’s).

This event has proven to be the platform where all the industry meets annually and spends 2 days of intensive networking and exchanging technical as well as business related information. Researches, authorities, academics, engineers, architect, contractors, concrete producers, material suppliers and concrete industry professions attended the International Concrete Technology Forum and were part of this networking platform.
