The 2017 edition of the annual Middle East Covering exhibition got underway at the Dubai World Trade Centre today, with a Portuguese Delegation of five top companies highlighting the latest products, services and future trends in the interiors industry.

The upcoming months in the construction industry will centre around smart cities, eco and technology innovation, renewable energies, and environmentally friendly raw materials. This is according to the Portuguese Delegation of companies present at Stand 4E34, Hall 4 at the exhibition.

The companies include Install Expert, Superveda, Brick4you, Desimetal and Summer Vanguard, all of which are based in Portugal with immense experience within the industry. They are currently in Dubai for the third annual event, which is the MENA region’s premier sourcing platform for surface covering.

Superveda is the company responsible for installing innovative security technology systems for some of Europe’s most popular football clubs: FC Porto, Benfica FC and Sporting Lisbon. General Manager, Sergio Carvalho says that more and more people are looking to implement various security measures because the number of factors that impact their safety are increasing. “Many countries and people are finding a larger need for security. What we see is that people do not want products that are as ‘aggressive’ as in the past, but instead require more aesthetically pleasing products that can do the same job, or even more effectively.”

This company is co-financed by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund, as part of the Operational Program for Competitiveness and Internationalization of the Lisbon Region (LISBOA 2020).

Silvia Caetano, owner of Install Expert, predicts that the need for long-lasting and aesthetically pleasing facades will continue to be the two most important factors. “Stone is definitely our most popular material, particularly in the colder countries, while panels made of materials like phenolic are perfect for the warmer countries such as the UAE.”

Install Expert is co-financed by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund, as part of the Operational Program for Competitiveness and Internationalization of the Centro Region (CENTRO 2020).

Summer Vanguard, a company that focuses on turning regular homes into smart homes, predicts that the impetus on environmentally friendly household items will continue to rise. “Nowadays it is not just a luxury, but a requirement. We continue to work directly with new suppliers of ecological raw materials, and along with the origin of the materials, also place a large focus on the final products that are low energy consumption methodologies,” explains Guilherme Marques.

Summer Vanguard is co-financed by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund, as part of the Operational Program for Competitiveness and Internationalization of the North Region (NORTE 2020).

Antonio Melo of Brick4you says that smart cities are the theme of the day. “The growth of societies as self-sustaining, organised and controlled societies continues to increase, with governments moving towards a significant reduction in harmful gases and trafficking constraints,” he explains.

Brick4you is co-financed by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund, as part of the Operational Program for Competitiveness and Internationalization of the Alentejo’s Region (ALENTEJO 2020).

Desimetal, which specialises in technology and production around the smart cities concept, foresees that the social responsibility aspect relating to the interiors industry will continue to increase. “We will continue to focus on products associated with vertical gardens, as well as finding new innovative solutions for the diversification of products for garden design. The focus for the coming months are shifting towards products and solutions that contribute to the increase in green and dynamic spaces,” says Guilherme F. Marques.

Desimetal is also co-financed by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund, as part of the Operational Program for Competitiveness and Internationalization of the Alentejo’s Region (ALENTEJO 2020).

A representative from each company will be at the stand for the duration of the event, highlighting their unique offerings complete with showrooms and demonstrations. The Portuguese Delegation will be at Stand 4E34, Hall 4 at Middle East Covering from 22nd – 25th May 2017.
