At Schindler, we’re moving beyond the traditional elevator. We’re embracing a holistic design philosophy that transforms elevator interiors into integrated, sensory-rich experiences. Our goal is to elevate the passenger journey through thoughtful, forward-looking design that blends innovation with comfort.
As Product Owner for Interior Design and Lead Visual Configurator at Schindler, we are dedicated to shaping the future of elevator interiors. Our work sits at the intersection of customer experience, design, safety, and sustainability—a dynamic space where new ideas take shape and evolve.
Elevators as architectural extensions
Our car interior designs reflect Schindler’s commitment to creating elevator spaces that are both functional and visually compelling. We’ve approached elevator interiors as an extension of architectural intent, ensuring that stepping into a Schindler elevator feels like a seamless continuation of the building’s design narrative.
Putting the passenger first
Today’s customers expect more than just vertical transportation; they seek environments that enhance the overall building experience. That’s why we’ve designed interiors that go beyond aesthetics—spaces that are comfortable, inviting, and emotionally resonant.
To develop this offering, we conducted a thorough analysis of market trends and engaged with a wide range of stakeholders, from architects and building owners to specialists and passengers. Instead of solely relying on sales data or industry trends, we prioritized direct feedback from end users and designers, which helped us understand their aspirations. This insight informed design elements that foster calm, warmth, and harmony.
Inspired by architecture, the lighting systems play with both indirect and direct sources creating a comfortable ambiance for the passenger.
Materials and colors are selected with a cohesive design philosophy, ensuring that any combination results in a balanced, elegant aesthetic—characteristic of Schindler’s design language.
Flow and emotion in design
Design is more than visual appeal—it’s about how a space makes you feel. Our interiors are meticulously crafted to create a seamless, welcoming transition from the building to the elevator. High-quality materials and refined finishes add a sense of sophistication without disrupting the architectural flow.
To simplify the design process for architects and designers, we’ve developed five modular interior options. These can be easily personalized to suit different building styles, offering flexibility without overwhelming choice. Each option is user-centric, ensuring confidence in every selection.
Built to last, designed to adapt
Durability and adaptability are central to our designs. The modular system allows for easy updates—panels, flooring, and other components can be replaced or upgraded without a full overhaul. This ensures longevity and supports sustainable modernization as technology continues to evolve.
We’ve also prioritized certified materials that are light weight, high performing durable. These choices reduce environmental impact while standing up to the demands of high-traffic environments.
Elevating wellbeing
Wellbeing is a growing priority in building environments. Our designs integrate features that enhance passenger comfort—soothing acoustics, fresh air, and ambient lighting all contribute to a more pleasant ride. These sensory elements help create spaces that feel safe, uplifting, and seamlessly integrated into the building’s identity.
As we showcase these designs, we’re proud to bring Schindler’s values of quality, durability, and user experience to more buildings around the world. This is more than a design, it’s a reimagining of what elevator spaces can be: elegant, intuitive, and inspiring.
