Glass will be brought to the forefront of trading at a key exhibition in September, in response to increasing demands in sustainable building practices in the region

Soaring demand for glass in the MENA construction market

To supplement the needs of the glass industry in the Middle East, dmg events Middle East, Asia & Africa is geared up to bring back Gulf Glass, a leading flat and container glass event in the region. Comprising of properties that make it a fully-recyclable material, glass has been gaining popularity with the construction fraternity, who are constantly seeking innovative and green construction solutions.

In 2015, Cision Research and Markets valued the construction glass market at $81.9 billion and has more recently forecasted a 7.6% CAGR leading to 2022.Developers have been welcoming innovative processes in buildings that incorporate energy efficient cooling, heating and lighting solutions. Opportunities stretch from the solar energy sector (where glass is a principle material to build panels), to value-added architectural considerations such as acoustics and utility reduction.

Recent activities are examples of this growing trend including Moblik, the Telecommunications Authority (TRA) in Abu Dhabi, being awarded a Gold LEED certification and Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) committing to maximize reliance on clean energy by Expo 2020 Dubai.

Gulf Glass will take place from 25-27 September at the Dubai World Trade Centre. The show will feature 140 regional and international exhibiting brands and will facilitate business networking interactions, which will help industry professionals in keeping updated with trends and opportunities in the market.
