Welsh firm Teddington Engineered Solutions is proving the sky is the limit after securing a three-year deal potentially worth over US$2 million on the very first day of Big 5 2007.
The deal will see Teddington, which designs and manufactures highly specialised bellows and expansion joints; work with noise control and pipe support supplier Kinetics Middle East LLC to distribute its products throughout Dubai and Qatar.
Teddington already exports widely to the Gulf and its products have been used in the construction of both the Palm developments and Dubai's Burj Tower and Mall - a US$8.5 billion project that will create the world's tallest building. This is the first time the company has attended Big 5, where it is exhibiting as part of a delegation of 16 companies assisted by International Business, the overseas trade and investment arm of the Welsh Assembly Government.
Aziz Abouseda, Kinetics Middle East and Jason Thomas, Teddington Engineered Solutions.
Jason Thomas, Commercial Manager at Teddington, said: "Between 65 and 70% of our business is in exports and the Middle Eastern market is very important to us last year alone we secured contracts worth around US$800,000 in the region. This high demand means we now need a more permanent presence in the Gulf and the deal with Kinetics will provide just that.
Kinetics has been a customer for many years now and we feel its products are an excellent fit with the range we offer. Both companies are leading manufacturers in their field and are highly regarded in their respective areas.
Aziz Abouseda of Kinetics added: Teddingons products are used widely in the Gulf and make important contributions to many projects. The deal will help fill a significant gap in the market and it will now be easier for companies and developers throughout the region to access their expertise. We are very excited about working with Teddington and have a number of big projects on the horizon, including Dubai airport.
As well as supplying products to the construction industry, Teddington is one of only four companies worldwide with technological expertise qualified to manufacture bellows for the LNG cryogenic shipping industry. It was recently named Regional Exporter of the Year by International Business Wales and also exports to Europe and the Far East.
