The LEED Green Associate training program has been specifically developed for professionals who want to demonstrate green building expertise in non-technical fields of practice. The program is part of the LEED Professional Credentials initiative, which was developed by the Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI), to encourage green building professionals to maintain and advance their knowledge and expertise. Professionals holding LEED Green Associate certification assures employers, policymakers and other stakeholders of their current level of competence and is the mark of the most qualified, educated and influential green building professionals in the marketplace.

“The whole world is now gradually making the shift towards adopting the ‘green buildings’ concept, a widely strategic move ensuring that modern infrastructure become more energy efficient and eco-friendly,” said Mohamed Karam, Business Development Manager ME & Africa, InSinkErator, Emerson FZE. “In line with this, design professionals like architects, interior designers, construction consultants and the like should equip themselves with the knowledge, skill and expertise in constructing ‘green buildings.’ With the large number of construction projects ongoing in this region, particularly here in Qatar, we found it necessary to help increase awareness on the ‘green building’ concept by encouraging design professionals to undergo this kind of training, which will help prepare them in taking the required examination needed to earn LEED Green Associate certification.”

The training session lasted for eight hours and helped the participants prepare and review for the LEED examinations, which is composed of 100 randomly delivered questions that must be completed in two hours. The content of the exam focuses on the LEED project process, covering topics like integrated design, core sustainability concepts, green building terminology and various aspects of the LEED rating systems.

“We would like to acknowledge the strong support that InSinkErator has provided us for this project, which has received an overwhelming response as reflected by the large number of participants who attended the training. We hope that those who will be earning their LEED Green Associate certifications will move on to become key proponents of the ‘green building’ concept and make their mark by developing buildings, homes and other forms of infrastructure that are not only totally sustainable but also environmentally safe,” concluded Nasser Al-Moselhi, Founder, Reesha.
